Jaguar Trail’s mission is to create memorable experiences through private tours, showcasing iconic places in Mexico.
We offer a personalized service to guests who are looking to immerse themselves in the history, culture and nature of the country.

Jaguar Trail was founded by Miguel Campos & Heidi Verschaeve, who share a passion for travel, discovering new and off the beaten path destinations and Mexican culture. This husband and wife team have been together in Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, for over 20 years and continue to explore the many marvelous sites in Mexico.
The Maya culture and its cenotes have a special place in their heart! One of the highlights of Miguel & Heidi’s wedding ceremony was the Maya Ritual performed by the shaman Don Crisanto from Tres Reyes (may he rest in peace) at the Cristalino cenote. Needless to say their trash the dress session took place in another cenote close to their home, called Chikin Ha.
Jaguar Trail was created to share this passion with their guests, offering them personalized private tours to experience Mexico’s heritage, culture, traditions, history and gastronomy. With their background in hospitality, Heidi & Miguel are service- and detail-oriented, always focusing on creating memorable experiences for their guests.
Miguel was born in CDMX (Mexico City), but raised in San Andrés Cholula in Puebla, also known as the city of the 365 churches (yes! One for each day of the year).
Miguel’s family moved to Cancún when he was 15 and after graduating, he decided to settle in the then more quiet and smaller village of Playa del Carmen.
Miguel is passionate about Mexican history, archaeology, culture and gastronomy and his first and forever love, tennis, he’s been playing ever since he was a child.
Both his friends in the children’s tennis club back in Puebla as well as the people from the Maya villages have called Miguel a “Nochoch Mac”, a wise old man. So it comes as no surprise that after a while working in guest services at a local DMC, he went back to school in 2005 to study at La Salle University Cancún in order to obtain his certification as a guide in archaeology and history.
Miguel brings 20+ years of experience as a certified guide in archaeology and history, and continues to study and update himself on everything and anything related to the topic.
Heidi was born and raised near the medieval city of Bruges in Belgium, famous for its chocolate, beer, the Smurfs, techno music and the saxophone. Heidi is passionate about travel, tourism, dogs, music and reading. She developed a slight obsession with Mexico from an early age. Her love for travel and her job at Thomas Cook AG landed her in Playa del Carmen in January of 2003 and she has been here ever since. Heidi’s favourite destinations in the area are the virgin beaches of the Yucatán Peninsula, the Bacalar lagoon, a.k.a. the lagoon of the 7 colours and the endless selection of spectacular cenotes.
With over 20+ years of experience in hospitality throughout her career in the tour operator business, the hotel business and travel trade media, she brings a broad range of knowledge and skills, including project management & development, always focusing on excellence in customer service.
