No wonder Chichén Itzá is 1 of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Its observatory, the colored house, the so-called church and the pyramid of the great priest are just the beginning of what Chichén has to offer. Conclude the visit in awe of the monumental architecture on the Gran Plaza (big square) where you will admire the castillo (castle) or temple of Kukulcán, followed by the temple of the warriors, the Venus platform, the skull platform and of course the ballgame court. The latter is the biggest one of Mesoamerica.
Samula is an open cenote, also known as Selva Maya, where you’ll have some time to swim in the refreshing waters of the Maya underground or just relax.
Enjoy some typical Yucatán dishes for lunch, such as sopa de lima, poc chuc or carne asada.
Ek Balam (black jaguar) is famous for its Acropolis where the tomb of the Maya king Ukit Kan Lek Tok of the four flint knives was found. Here, you are still able to climb the pyramid and be amazed by the views of the pristine jungle.
Attention! Bring a long sleeved shirt (rashguard style) for swimming in the cenotes. The use of sunscreen or any other type of lotions is not allowed in the cenotes.
