Ek Balam, Valladolid & Cenote

Tour Details

Ek Balam’s stunning architecture will amaze you.  Age-old structures such as the ballgame court, the palaces, the oval temple and the main building called the Acropolis will draw you in.  The Acropolis holds the tomb of king Ukit Kan Lek Tok and is one of the best preserved structures displaying  impressively detailed stucco.  

Climb up the Acropolis for breathtaking views of the whole site and the Maya jungle.   

The pearl of the east, Valladolid, formerly known as Zací, conserves the beauty of colonial architecture.  Learn about its history, legends, customs and food.  Enjoy your lunch and some time at leisure to explore or purchase crafts and souvenirs. 

Have you always wanted to explore a cave in the middle of the jungle and swim in its crystal clear waters? Samula cenote’s millenary formations and stalactites will captivate you whilst you relax in its transparent waters.   

Itinerary

• 7 a.m.  pickup from your hotel/villa
• 2 hour drive to Ek Balam (may vary depending on your hotel/villa’s location)
• 1 ½ hour guided visit of Ek Balam 
• 30 minute drive to Valladolid 
• Lunch in Valladolid and time at leisure
• 30 minute drive to  Samula cenote 
• 45 minutes to swim in Samula cenote 
• 3 p.m. departure to your hotel/villa

Attention!  Bring a long sleeved shirt (rashguard style) for swimming in the cenotes.  The use of sunscreen or any other type of lotions is not allowed in the cenotes.
